Salary Guides
Botswana uses the Botswana Pula (BWP). Botswana is one of Africa's most remarkable economic success stories — transforming from one of the world's poorest countries at independence in 1966 to an upper-middle income country driven by responsible management of diamond revenues through Debswana (a De Beers joint venture). The country consistently ranks highly for low corruption and governance quality in Africa. BURS (Botswana Unified Revenue Service) administers PAYE, which is deducted at source. The low top PAYE rate of 25% makes Botswana attractive for skilled workers compared to neighbours.

Gaborone is Botswana's capital and growing financial centre, with several regional headquarters of multinational companies. The country has a well-developed legal system (based on English common law), a stable currency, and excellent infrastructure by regional standards. Botswana offers residence permits for skilled workers and retirees. English is an official language alongside Setswana, making integration straightforward for international professionals. The country borders South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Zambia — providing access to the wider southern African region.
