The Medicare Part B standard premium rose to $202.90 a month in 2026, and the annual deductible rose to $283. Part B covers doctors' services, outpatient hospital services, certain home health services and medical equipment, so it is the cost most beneficiaries feel each month.
This guide lists the official 2026 Part A and Part B amounts, shows what the increase costs over a year, and explains where the 2027 figures stand. If your income is high, your premium may be higher: see our IRMAA brackets guide.

Source: the CMS fact sheet on 2026 Medicare Parts A and B premiums and deductibles, released on November 14, 2025. About 99% of beneficiaries pay no Part A premium because they have at least 40 quarters of Medicare-covered employment, as determined by the Social Security Administration.
CMS says the increase in the 2026 Part B standard premium and deductible is mainly due to projected price changes and assumed utilization increases that are consistent with historical experience. The increase from $185.00 to $202.90 is $17.90 a month.
If your income from two years earlier is above $109,000 (single) or $218,000 (joint), your total Part B premium is higher. In 2026 the first tier is $284.10 a month (an extra $81.20) and the top tier is $689.90 (an extra $487.00). CMS says these adjustments affect roughly 8% of people with Part B. The full table, Part D amounts and the appeal rules are in our IRMAA brackets guide.
For people whose full Medicare coverage ended 36 months after a kidney transplant and who elect to keep Part B coverage of immunosuppressive drugs, the 2026 standard premium for that coverage is $121.60 a month.
| Item | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 standard Part B premium | $185.00 | $2,220.00 |
| 2026 standard Part B premium | $202.90 | $2,434.80 |
| Increase | $17.90 | $214.80 |
For context, a beneficiary with a $2,000 monthly Social Security benefit received a January 2026 cost-of-living adjustment of 2.8%, which is $56.00 a month. The $17.90 premium increase takes about 32% of that raise (a rounded figure: 17.90 / 56.00). See our 2027 COLA guide for next year's adjustment.
CMS has not announced the 2027 Part B premium or deductible. The 2026 figures were released on November 14, 2025, so 2027 figures are expected in the autumn; any number you see before then is a projection, not an official amount. SSA has announced that the 2027 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment is 3.6%. SSA says information about Medicare changes for 2027 will be available at medicare.gov, and that the new 2027 benefit amount for Social Security beneficiaries who receive Medicare will be available in December through the mailed COLA notice and the my Social Security Message Center. This page will be updated when CMS publishes the figures.
